Subject: 2009 FFA Scholarship Applications - Update

Dear State FFA Staff:

The 2009 Scholarship Application is now Live!   The following updates are for your information and may be shared with your advisors if you receive inquiries regarding the scholarship program.

To register and submit a 2009 application, students can go to www.ffa.org  and click the "Scholarship" link or they can go directly to the Scholarship homepage at http://www.ffa.org/index.cfm?method=c_programs.Scholarships. 

Applications are submitted online, but advisor approval is still required for an application to be eligible.  Applications must be submitted and have advisor approval no later than February 17, 2009. (The application will close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.) 

Applicants cannot print the required signature page until their advisor has approved their application.  FFA must receive a signed signature page mailed through the US Postal Service, postmarked no later than February 23, 2009 to complete the application.

Advisors are now able to login at their convenience and view the status of all applicants from their chapter.  To approve an application, advisors will go to www.ffa.org, click the "scholarship" link, then the "2009 Scholarship Application" link.  Advisors will click the "application" tab, then Login.
Advisor Login information is as follows:  The chapter number is the username.  The password is FFA Advisor.  (The password is case sensitive, so be sure it is entered exactly as shown.)   PLEASE encourage advisors to safe guard this information - advisor usernames and passwords cannot be changed.

The committee we selected to determine a location for our State qualifying Dairy Judging contest has met and agreed to recommend using the SFA Invitational as the Area IX State qualifying contest. Dr. Perritt assured the committee that it would be a complete contest with hired professional officials. The contest will be March 31 at SFA.  The committee has given there recommendation and now we need to vote as an Area. Please send me your vote using email either for or against this contest location by Monday Nov. 24th. I will tally the results and have the answer before the Thanksgiving break so you can make your spring plans.
